I liked this one. The action proceeds and Unofficial Katy gives away more of herself, with less crypticism (a made-up word for made-up world). Think you can lose even more of the verbal 'self-knowing' tics. And was there a deliberate riff off of "She Caught The Katy and Left Me a Mule to Ride”??😛
I'm glad you liked this one though. I'm assuming you can see the increasing self-confidence in the characters and so on. The preceding I guess is a product of the fact that I am one of those writers who eschews incessant post-editing. I just trust in my organic ability to write. Of course it might not appeal to some, and to others it might seem, I don't know, the thought has just vanished from my head because of a certain person from Porlock by the name of Alison. FFS.
I remember listening to a radio 4 play about it which starred Bill Nighy who was a sort of spy or something and suspected the poet of equally being a spy. It was brilliant and it’s probably still in the iPlayer archive somewhere. Well worth a listen if so.
[She's out of the room for a moment]. I just wanted to say I'm really happy that you liked this, because I know how discerning you are and that you don't click the like button unless you really, really like something. So that means a lot, so thank you.
Still can't remember what I was going to say though. Something about laziness perhaps. Mind you, with regards to the organic thing, I tend to write things in my head a dozen times (or see them, rather, as in a movie) before I actually sit down and write it. So it comes out fully formed and doesn't need any editing, because I already did that, if you see what I mean.
Anyway - I'm still happy you liked it. The rest of it is either just as good or even better.
I honestly thought you meant Unofficial Katy had left the room! I do see what you mean and things I say that might make you naturally defensive is just me being in critique mode. We can DM on the details.
Looking forward to where and how you take U-KT in the other 6 episodes.
and will you be offended if I was slightly relieved about the brevity of the introduction? I could get right into this tale without having to get into A BRUNSWICK STATE OF MIND first.
also... GIANT SHRIMP and very wrong arm bangle perspective = much amusement. Interestingly I was actually dreaming about Paella just a few hours ago as it was on my mind last night because we have guests for lunch today. Giant shrimps you say? ingredients, not the guests.
I am not offended in the slightest. In fact you are not the only one to have complained about my ridiculously overlong intros. It’s partly why I did the fairly long pinned post for the section - so I can just refer people to that for an intro.
Re the images - yes, I have noticed the Great Image Generator often gets a bit weird, and for example sometimes imprints extra fingers and bits of flesh everywhere. I think it must have a problem with intricate bits of anatomy. It’s fine for faces though. Interestingly, the images for Cali are not how I first imagined him looking (think more Jack Nicholson, especially the grin), but the GIG kept giving me people that look like they should be portrayed by George Clooney. This new look Cali is growing on me, though. So I may stick with it.
I have a gripe. The Pearl & Dean intro is all very well but where's the rest? No local Chinese Restaurant, no splodge splodge splodge hot dog and no ciggie ad.
We were thinking more the Chinese takeaway over the road, Kia-Ora, choc-ices and suchlike. Maybe one or two Silk Cut ads. The Zulu one was quite funny, if I recall. They just don’t make ads like they used to.
But I shall pass on your remarks to the customer service department.

I don't know that song, by the way.
What do you mean by 'self knowing tics'?

I've been to Porlock a couple of times. Hell of a hill and some heroic history.

Very much enjoyed this Evelyn.

I want my money back!
A very acceptable complaint I think. I have spoken to my customer service manager and have been assured that next time you’ll get some adverts!
no black magic chocolate adverts... no frys Turkish delight advert...
