Liberal Socialism & What is to be done, Part 1
Katrina's deep dive into the Lizzy Manifesto starts here
Evie’s note.
This is, of course, something which should have been written a while ago. Then again, I didn’t have that many subscribers or followers at the time, but now I do. So hopefully this is a better time to launch into this deep dive explanation into what is meant by Liberal Socialism, how it relates to British political history (both in this world and in Katrina’s parallel homeworld), and essentially help you to understand the fundamental issue, namely ‘what is wrong with this world and why, and what must be done to rectify it’. You will, I assure you, find yourself somewhat puzzled that you didn’t understand it before. Because it is frighteningly simple. And that’s a psychological phenomenon. It’s about clouding people’s brains so they can’t understand and thus didn’t even know there’s a way out.
Coercive control, you might also call it.
You will also acquire a decent insight into Katrina’s attitude towards this world. From a certain literal perspective, you’ll get where she’s coming from.
At the moment neither me nor her knows how long this offbeat philosophical paper is going to be. I would certainly imagine it will be far more than enough for just one post. It will be a deep dive and as such, it will probably turn out to be a series. Neither of us are going to worry about length, though. That’s because it’s important you understand all of this.
Anyhow – don’t worry, I shall be pawing you over to the delightful Katrina shortly, as this is supposed to be her place to tell you all about this stuff. At this point in the narrative, please note, she is still in the early part of 2022. So even though you and I are aware of subsequent events, at this stage, she isn’t (notwithstanding the fact that the timeline is about to diverge, partly because of her own aberrational presence in this world).
What I did, however, want to briefly mention before I do paw you over is that back in her homeworld at this current time of me writing this – that’s to say, April 2025 – that world is eagerly watching the Republic of Britannia having a general election campaign (the vote will happen on the first Thursday of May, as has become something of a tradition).
Ordinarily, you would think people wouldn’t really be that bothered about it, especially given how secure and happy most people’s lives are now in that world, but on this occasion it’s quite profound. The reason is because for the first time in twenty-two years, the governing Liberal Socialist Party is set to lose its overall majority, and there is going to be a hung parliament. What the coalition is going to look like will have a profound effect on the direction of travel for decades to come, possibly even the rest of the century. Furthermore, Britannia is the spiritual home of Liberal Socialism, it’s where it started as a governing system, and where the ensuing transformation of the rest of the world began. This especially accelerated after the so-called global financial crisis in 2007/8 (which happened in her world much as it did here, albeit with a few subtle differences). Britannia, having had some four years or so of Liberal Socialism by then, was entirely unaffected by this bad debt crisis, quite simply because it didn’t have any debt and didn’t need any either. You’ll understand why that is when Katrina explains the system to you.
So this initiated the classic domino effect. People in other countries simply voted for political parties which adopted the same Liberal Socialist manifesto (individual cultural adaptations notwithstanding of course). Thus, by the end of the next decade pretty much every country – certainly in Europe – had turned Lizzy, and that’s all she wrote.
America, in particular, is eagerly watching. They, if they were honest (which they are now, believe it or not), would dearly love to see a Conservative victory, as that party in Britannia has a manifesto which very much resembles the American way of doing things. America, as you might imagine – even in this better parallel world – would never go full on Liberal Socialism, but has met it halfway, shall we say. They do have a functioning welfare state, including the usual pillars like decent minimum wage, workers’ rights, free healthcare & education, public ownership of the Federal Reserve (and thus no national debt), and all the rest of it. But their approach to the rest of the economy, as a genuine free market, not a corporatocracy (otherwise known as fascism), is in the classic American tradition of capitalism with its mom & pop businesses and the like. There are significant corporations, for sure, but they do not wield anything like the political influence they do in this world. America is no longer a fascist oligarchy, that is to say.
Intriguingly enough for you, with your different parallel world view, they also happen to be halfway through their cathartic realisation of the Kennedys’ Manifest Destiny, as they call it. John Jnr. ended his second term in January, and has been succeeded by his cousin, Bobby Jnr. (given what this world’s RFK Jnr. has become, you probably wouldn’t recognise the other one – yeah, it’s ‘evil parallel world twin’ time). For the Americans, this is the fulfilment of what nearly all of them feel was cruelly stolen from them in the 1960s, first with the CIA’s assassination of JFK in 1963, and then his brother RFK five years’ later. You may be delighted to also hear that Katrina’s PAWS Productions have made a long-running ‘what-if’ streaming series, itself called Manifest Destiny, which imagines an alternate history in which the assassination attempt in Dallas failed. So you have JFK up until 1968, followed by two terms of Bobby. As you can happily imagine, I am sure, not only does that parallel world look brighter than yours, but so too does the one in which a hundred million Americans tune in each week for the next episode.
Naturally there are a few disgruntled old-school Republicans who think the whole thing is just blatant pro-Kennedy propaganda, but hey, don’t think you don’t completely eliminate conspiracy theories in a utopia. They do still have a CIA, you know.
Anyway, that’s a nice little enticing intro for you. Katrina in that world is going with the prediction of her AI, Kay, who thinks it will be a Lizzy-led coalition with the PGV (Pagans, Gaians & Visitors’ Party – more on them later) and probably Plaid Cymru. Meaning there may well be an independent Wales by the end of the decade. That is inevitable, it’s just a question of when. Cornwall will do likewise, which in turn will lead to the formation of the Britannic & Celtic Union (BCU), comprising the independent countries of Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands. Whether the Celtic region across the channel known as ‘Brittany’ will be able to separate from the rest of France is another question, one which won’t be resolved for quite some time. But certainly the Britannic & Celtic Union will have a profound effect on geopolitics and trade. So this forthcoming election really is quite exciting. If you want to know what Nigel Farage is up to in the other world, he is now the leader of the BUP, or ‘Britannic Union Party’ – pushing for the BCU, which as far as he is concerned is full on Brexit by the backdoor. They currently have 12 MPs, in case you were wondering.
Perhaps even further ahead, England may also split up into autonomous regions, comprising the North-West (White Rose), North-East (Red Rose), Anglia, New Mercia, and London with the South-East (‘New Saxony’).
An even more profound and, for the Americans especially, disturbing result would be if the New Communist Party were also included in the new coalition government. The implications there, I am sure, don’t need to be spelled out in the slightest. They also currently have 12 MPs.
But how did it get that way in her world? I am hoping this is the question you will want to know. Well, far be it from Katrina to disappoint you, this is what she will now begin to explain to you.
Yes, you will be sad about the ‘what could have been’, but perhaps – I don’t know – if enough people understand all of this, I mean truly understand it, and by some miracle (or some non-human intervention) are able to force a Liberal Socialist government in this-world’s Britannia, then who knows. You may just be able to avoid the designed descent into fascism, subvert the impending catastrophe and save your entire species at least half a millennium of totalitarian suffering and serfdom under the Novus Ordo Seclorum.
Either that, or you’ll just have to learn to live with the asteroid.
Without further ado, then, here’s Katrina.
Cambridge, January 2022
Some people might accuse me of a form of procrastination, in that I haven’t told you all about Liberal Socialism yet. Or perhaps it’s merely me worrying they might think that. It’s just that I was uncertain as to how to approach the subject. Just doing a deep dive into the manifesto probably wouldn’t work, because you would really need some context, which is to say a good understanding of our British political history. This is why I was intending to complete my description of the Lizzy PR-2 voting system with a brief outline of the history, specifically with regards to the election results since 1992 (which is where our political timelines diverge).
But that too might be confusing for you, because you wouldn’t know what Liberal Socialism is and thus wouldn’t understand how they got elected and the profound change they wrought, first on our country, and then, via the inevitable domino effect, on all the others.
So, I have hit upon this approach. I will be weaving this political history into it though, so you won’t miss out. But I do think the most important point is for you to understand the big picture and the fundamental pillars of the Lizzy system and philosophy.
And I can do it like this. See, one of the most profound shocks for me when I crossed over into this world of yours, learned about it and since moving to Cambridge, meeting lots of people, is the frightening utter lack of understanding of two vitally important subjects, namely psychology and economics. There’s a lack of understanding of history too, of course, but that will come into it later, seeing as history at its core is about psychology and economics.
This is especially the case with your ‘socialists’. I’ve yet to meet a socialist in this world who has even the vaguest understanding of economics and business. And that is their undoing. For example when they bang on about ‘wealth taxes’, which is not only economically illiterate but smacks of the politics of envy. And I don’t just say that as the richest girl in the world.
Perhaps we could also reduce this to the issue of education. Education is itself one of the most important pillars of the Lizzy Manifesto. In particular because neither democracy nor a free market economy can function unless the people are fully informed. Being fully informed also means understanding. And with regards to the economy, they also need to have a clear choice, but equally so the means to exercise that choice. That simply means ‘enough money to spend’. But we’ll come to that.
What I should definitely point out here is that this perpetuation of ignorance about psychology and economics is absolutely necessary on the part of the minority social group which govern your world – for their own benefit, not yours. To express it in a vernacular, a clued-up population cannot be socially controlled. So of course they have to keep the people dumbed down, distracted, and half-drowning in chronic psychological stress. If you are stressed, remember, you can’t think straight.
Coercive control, in other words.
The other issue people don’t understand is politics. What I mean here is that your fundamental problem is your holding to an incorrect assumption, and this is the root cause of why you live in a dystopia. This assumption being that your politicians care about you, the people. And were it not for circumstances beyond their control, or blind adherence to an ideology, they would happily enact policies which gave you prosperity and security and the means to fulfil your aspirations and all the rest of it. They may also come up with other excuses like ‘we inherited a dire financial situation from the previous administration’, or ‘there’s no money left’, or ‘there’s a crisis going on, you know’, or ‘difficult decisions’, or ‘there are no quick fixes’, or ‘human nature is flawed and no one really knows what the solutions are’.
All of these excuses – which can be condensed perhaps to the ‘incompetence rather than conspiracy’ meme – are only believable if you hold to that underlying assumption, ‘they do care, they just can’t or don’t know how to fix things’.
But as I say, this fundamental assumption is where you go wrong. Because it’s one of the biggest lies of all. So this is where psychology comes in. [Evie’s note: in this regard I should take this opportunity to point you towards my Social Psychology & the Cabal series over on Classified-K, which is relevant here]. Here is the truth – and this is the very easy way to understand history too, as it happens, and the reason why you are living in a dystopia. The politicians do not care about you in the slightest, because as far as they are concerned you are ‘the other’. You are members of a different social group to them. The people who govern you, along with all the rest of the so-called ‘Establishment’ in all its branches and functions (economy, judiciary, military, intelligence services, media, political, and so on), only care about their own minority social group.
And it has been this way in Britannia since 1066. If only your British people knew their own history.
The best word to use to describe this system is ‘feudalism’. Of course they can’t call it that anymore, otherwise the mask would be off and the people would rebel. But they – the Establishment – know perfectly well what they do. And trust me when I say they are terrified of the people finding out. The only value they put on a person from a different social group – i.e. the people – is as a unit of economic productivity. That’s it. That’s all you are to them. A serf. Nothing more.
Everything they do is for the benefit of their group, not yours. Their attitude towards you is thus absolutely akin to racism. Which of course makes it extremely spiritually immature. They are mostly sociopathic, in the true sense of that word. There are of course some psychopaths amongst them, but most of them are sociopaths. The difference between a sociopath and a psychopath being very simple to understand – a sociopath only cares about themselves and getting what they want. If others are harmed along the way, it doesn’t bother them. And they are perfectly capable of doing something ‘beneficial’ – or appearing to do so – but only if it benefits them in some way (that’s one of their most effective means of deceiving, of course). But they do not go out of their way to cause hurt and suffering. A psychopath, by contrast, does. A psychopath has an addictive need to inflict pain and suffering on others. This is a neuroscience thing, by the way. Don’t worry, I’m not going to launch into a digression about this here, it was just important to point it out.
Another way to understand this social group is to make reference to an issue you will already understand, namely ‘colonialism’. And especially, colonialism by force and conquest. If you think of this group as a ‘foreign and hostile occupying power’, then you will, at a stroke I hope, fundamentally comprehend their attitude towards ‘the people’. Once you grasp this, you will have an immunity to their propaganda, especially their ‘nationalist’ propaganda. That nationalist propaganda (or ‘patriotism’ is another word they deceitfully use) is specifically designed to prevent you from realising they are a different social group, with a different ‘cultural identity’. It is to deceive you into thinking they are the same socio-cultural group as you. You, just as with any human being, as a social animal, innately understand that it’s normal and natural to ‘care for members of your own social group’. You can’t comprehend someone not caring about their own (‘you don’t shit on your own doorstep’). Thus, if they can convince you they are the same group as you, then you will hold to that original, underlying false assumption that they care about you.
Hopefully – you are understanding where I am coming from now, yes?
Excellent! I’m very happy about that.
I think we shall endeth the lesson here, class.
For your homework, I want you to go away and think about that underlying false assumption ‘politicians care about the people’. You might add ‘the planet’ or ‘the species’ too, by the way.
And think about whether, and if so to what extent you yourself fell for that assumption – and perhaps believed anything they ever say. Especially at election times.
Because yes, it does mean they are liars.
And lying and liars is where we are going next time.
I’ll repeat that – they are liars.
Once you grasp this, you can start to read into their public statements. What the intention behind their utterances is. Deception.
Like, when they say ‘we are all in this together’ – they don’t mean you, they mean themselves, their social group – and they do mean all their political parties.
And if they use the first person plural, like ‘our’ country, or ‘our future’ or whatever, they mean this in the possessive sense, not the inclusive sense. But they do know that normal people do interpret it in the inclusive sense, because that’s how normal humans think. That’s one way they deceive you.
If they say such and such needs to be fixed, and express an intention to fix it – they are lying.
If someone or some quango proffers a solution, they will make the appropriate noises, pretend to take notice, whilst knowing all along ‘what is to be done’. They may even express an intention to act on it.
But they are liars. If they wanted to make things better, they would have done so already, don’t you think?
Knock knock, and into your head, class.
They are liars.
That root assumption is false. Meditate upon that in your consciousness for your homework.
Class dismissed and see you next time.
They most certainly are liars, and a Lizzy govt under Corbyn for the past 10 years would have been radically different, and a HUGE improvement. Farage would only support such a movement if his CIA handlers and US billionaire 'dark money' agreed that he should. Love the vision of that UK.
However, the sociopath/psychopath split is different.
A sociopath is a normal person indoctrinated to regard themselves as separate (see: English public schools, fx). Their empathy has been damaged, and ultimately, a sociopath is someone who does not care about YOU. (If they did, because you are family fx, they might seem quite normal).
A psychopath is someone born with the damaged empathy capability. They are incapable of empathy to everyone. However, this does not mean that " A psychopath has an addictive need to inflict pain and suffering on others". I've met a handful of true psychopaths - such as the MI5 agent who ordered me to stop my social activism around 2014, with implied threats to everyone I cared about. However, I once also knew a Danish psychopath, who was very much an outlier in that society. Danish society traditionally highly values empathy, and their pedagogy/family behaviour is designed to enhance that in the young. He was not aware that he was a psychopath, people were just confusing to him, and he had very limited self-awareness.
As much as he could be seriously annoying, he certainly didn't "Have an addictive need to inflict pain and suffering on others". He merely lacked empathy, and situational awareness.
Psychopaths raised in supportive, decent families and societies will emulate the behaviour around them. They may not even know they they are different in this regard.
They have the POTENTIAL to " an addictive need to inflict pain and suffering on others", if raised in a brutal, highly-competitive, and sociopathy-supporting structure.
And yes, Britain's feudalist nature has not significantly changed since the disastrous 1066 invasion and occupation.
Who is Katrina? :)
I don't have to think about it. We have Mr. Wankerous and his cronies in charge here in the States. We are in deep doo doo.
