I LOVE the CCTV little twist at the end!!! I mean, I was inclined to believe her. As a multiple myself, I can see why Malcolm was prepared to diagnose her with a Dissociative disorder, but too much of her story overlaps with the reality of life, especially her top secret spy info. If she was a multiple in truth, how would she have gotten access to info about Sarah? I’m not saying it’s not possible she’s a multiple, and she somehow came across the information and assimilated it into a story about herself, but it feels unlikely. Her appearing in that chair calms all my fears. Perhaps she can help us change our world?

That’s such a cool comment!

The real twist is a little more complex. Remember also this is version 1. The final version, which is the ongoing long story, has a slightly different twist. It’s similar, and still a bit mystical, and absolutely doesn’t deny the multiple aspect, but there’s a lot more sinister stuff going on. From the sci-fi perspective, if I can put it that way, I’m exploring the idea about an ‘alter from a different incarnation in a parallel world’ co-existing (co-consciousness) with this world’s version of the person. So it ventures into mystical or philosophical questions about reincarnation and how each of our incarnations on our evolutionary path is a part of ultimate self. It gives us a better understanding of ‘the archetype’ or ‘god’ or whichever name we give it. Being a multiple is a gift, in this sense, because we are closer to the archetype.

In the final version of the story, this CCTV aspect, and her relationship with Malcolm, has a lot more prominence, and Katrina will have to come to terms with a few things.

In other words - here’s the question - what if ‘both’ is true - that’s to say ‘a multiple’ but also ‘from a parallel world’. - when you read the final two episodes of DZM0 you will get a glimpse of that idea.

I am so glad you are liking this story by the way Nichole! Thank you!

I LOVE the idea of a multiple from another dimension. While we are on this topic of the archetype and dimensional travel, can I just say that I am a medium and am growing more understanding about dimensions all the time. And that I believe several of my parts have their very own soul (although of course we—all of humanity and everything—are all One soul in the end). I believe being a multiple has made it easier for me to access spiritual gifts. So I not only can get on board with Katrina’s story, but I accept it as sincerely possible.

Oh you are going to LOVE Katrina's internal system!

You keep coming up with these amazing comments and anticipating everything! You are such a wonderful person!

I'll give you a teaser-trailer, which is that a one of Katrina's 'parts' in particular, called 'Uni', is a non-human part who doesn't even realise she is inhabiting a human brain. She is essentially a supernatural entity which 'bridges' the worlds, and allows the communication between 'this world Katrina' and 'other world Katrina' - so the other world K can 'co-consciousness' with the multiples in this world.

As a result of this, her multiple self in this world has an elevated spiritual awareness, which allows her to 'fulfil a divine purpose'. This is the beginning of where the drama happens, because the bad guys end up realising this. So although K has a sort of divine protection so she can fulfil her purpose, there is also the 'evil' which is trying to thwart the whole thing. Yeah, it's a bit complicated and to be honest I am still trying to work out the final details.

But I guess the main point is that I am trying to make the reader understand that being a multiple is not ultimately a 'disorder', in fact it's a 'system' in the same way that a 'soul' has multiple lifetimes. Thus, if we have a 'part' in our system which traverses these lifetimes then we start to understand how each lifetime fits in with our true, archetypal, purposeful souls.

I personally have become increasingly mindful of this in recent years - in my life I had my total split phase during my childhood, then in adolescence there was a bit of fusion (apart from the persecuting protector - you know all about that of course), but then in my early twenties I got seriously spiritual and totally embraced the idea that 'my soul is a multiple' and I am 'one of many parts'. It's a really amazing but also disconcerting and weird thing. But I do still think our awareness of our fragmentation, however it has manifested with us, is a spiritual gift. We can understand stuff which singletons really can't. And I would like to use that to help people.

Maybe I'm rambling again and not being totally clear. I do that a lot. Sorry!

Forgot to say - these ideas will be coming up when we have the interlude bit when Katrina goes back home to her own world and discovers she has co-consciousness with her other, older incarnation (and vice versa). So you get to see what this parallel (utopian) world is like, but you know that she's going to have to come back here at the end. And the other, older Katrina, is going to miss her when she's gone. You'll get to meet her wife Anna too (she's lovely!).

The spiritual aspect is a really important part of what I am trying to do with the story.

Have a look at the Aten symbol - the sun (archetype/soul) with rays coming down ending in Ankhs (symbol of life/lifetime) - i.e. 'essence fragments' - where the essence is our source-soul, and each lifetime/incarnation is a fragment of that wholeness, to which we return (fuse/reintegrate) at the end of each life. I have instinctively understood this since the moment I discovered this philosophy. For me, it's not just a philosophy, it's real. And of course it means we shouldn't be scared of death at all.

So yes, we do have a gift with this dissociation - we have an insight and a real experience. I would like to use it for good.
