First, I apologise for not having posted anything for a while. I meant to, but something happened.
But it was a good thing. Kind of.
Katrina wrote her DEXOS thing, and it turned out to be a lot longer than was originally envisaged. Like, there’s another 15k words of it to go.
So I’ve made an executive decision, to split it up into three more parts. She’d originally intended for it to be just one more, but maybe you know what she’s like by now. When she gets some notion in her head, it’s difficult to rein her in, you know.
So, here is my proposal. Given there are three more parts to her DEXOS thing, and three more parts to SS15, I thought we may as well alternate them. And we’re going to do that every other day, starting tomorrow with episode 4 of SS15.
And trust me on this one, but the third part of Katrina’s DEXOS thing is going to change everything.
But you can’t have that until after the SS15 thing.
So, tomorrow, you will get part 4 of SS15, then we shall be alternating with DEXOS. And then I shall be doing you a counter-subversion thing for Classified-K.
But then…
At long last, I am going to start the series. ‘What to do about Katrina’. Finally!
I have decided that there is no point in just continuing to tweak the thing. In some vain hope that it will eventually be perfect. That way lies madness. It’s already perfect.
Well, that’s to say what I have so far is already perfect. At least, with a final edit. Then you will have it.
I have also decided that you, wonderful subscribers and readers and friends, deserve a bit more than just ‘the first few chapters’.
You deserve a lot more than that. So I am minded to give you the entirety of Act One. That’s about 75-80k words. I am going to be starting this after this little sequence of SS15 and DEXOS. Then you are going to get one instalment of the series a week. You will also get at least one more thing a week, possibly two. It depends. In particular, given we are in an election year, it’s important you get the Liberal Socialist Manifesto. Not that it will make a difference, in the time we have left (see ‘Event Day’) but at least I will be able to say that it was there. Available.
So. This is my thing about what you can expect from now on. Now, I have a wonderful third of a hundred subscribers, so it kind of merits this. I wanted you all to know that I appreciate every one of you. And I want to give you something back. So please do tell me stuff in your comments and please share and like and all the rest of it. I don’t have enough time or money or freedom or guile to make this world a better place before Event Day happens. But at least I and we can say we tried, eh?
Anyway – this is what you can expect from now on. You’ll get one instalment of the main series per week, and you’ll get either one or two extra things on top of that.
If you are following Katrina’s journal, you will know you are about to get hooked into an ever so slightly different world. And after DEXOS, you’ll get the Lizzy Manifesto itself.
If you love the Fairytale Sunday, equally don’t worry – I have two other past lives lined up for you. One from Atlantis, one from Medieval Germany.
If you love my Juvenilia, there’s a whole load more postmodern mischief where that came from.
If you love the counter-subversion and the spy stuff and the Classified-K, you are about to get a seriously crucial question. So don’t you dare go away. That’s the first thing I will do after the end of SS15.
So that’s what I wanted to tell you, all you lovely subscribers. I appreciate every one of you. It’s wrong of me to ask for paid for stuff. Not just because I’m a socialist, but because I can’t afford that kind of thing myself. But eventually, once the first act of the series is done, and if you do think there is a world still worth living for, then I will love you, more than I can say, if you help me to live the life I have always wanted to live. What I should’ve been able to do since I was young. Just write. And have people listen. And have people understand. And have enough money to not have to worry anymore.
Anyhow. That’s it for now.
See you tomorrow with SS15.
In the meantime, please love this.
Because it’s about bloody time I leave you lovely subscribers with the inevitable. The basically ‘how come we never had this before?!’
Just listen to the beauty of this guitar solo. This is where we come from.
Well, you have it now. See you tomorrow…
