This is the first story I’ve read of yours and I loved it! When you mentioned paw I thought oh, Ana must be a cat, like in Andre Norton’s novel Breed to Come. 😻
Ah - well she is a feline lifeform! Called ‘Paschats’ (as in the section on my Substack). If you read the previous story ‘The Younger Horus’ it will fill in some of the details.
I’m so pleased you liked it! And thank you for getting through the whole 5800 words!
Just finished the previous story. Must say I enjoyed this one more. 😺 As for getting through the 5800 words - I’ve been an avid reader all my life so it was easy! 👍🏻
Sorry I made you cry. I think the Goddess loves you though, Jeannine. Because you love the land, and all the creatures. So when the catastrophe happens, you will survive. Because you deserve to. xx
No apology is necessary, it's not your fault. As QUA-TI points out, it would be unfortunate if your story didn't make me cry. I suspect that Gaia is very displeased with the United States at the moment, and I'm not sure many of us would survive the catastrophe... and even if a few of us did, it would certainly be a sad, sad time to be alive. I'm sorry, my depression is rearing it's crabby head today, so my mood is... moodish, shall we say. Even if the worst happens, I suspect SOMETHING will survive, and the animals will slowly return, like they did after the dinosaurs were wiped out. Homo sapiens might not make the evolutionary reboot, but that's not the end of the world...
There were a couple things here that made me smile: The word "cushpad" is an awesome invention! And the line about friendship being "...the most precious thing in the universe." I hope Gaia loves me, because I love her.

We are all doomed, aren't we? This is so sad and depressing, but it's such a good story. Thank you for making me cry.

You are a star, Jeannine. Gaia knows that.
I must to bed now. I shall dream of a better future…
Thank you and sweet dreams. 💚
