I have a confession to make.
Most of my new poems have been written after I’ve drunk above a certain level of wine.
I kind of ‘get in the mood’ as it were. It’s a Muse thing, maybe.
Anyway, this poem was written the other night when I was in the mood, and then I totally forgot about it until I only just now looked at it again and thought, actually, fuck, that’s a fucking good poem!
Sometimes I think ah, maybe I should submit this (or that) to one of those lit mags, but then I remember that the editors of these so-called lit mags invariably don’t know shit about poetry. I know this from perusing and pursuing them all on Chill Subs etc. - it hardly takes me half an hour of reading these lit mags to tell that the kind of ‘poetry’ they print isn’t poetry. It’s MFA-filtered shite. It’s not poetry. It’s usually self-indulgent rubbish that has no musicality to it.
Poetry without music is not poetry. It’s a mistake.
Evelyn is going to shoosh now and present you with her poem in a vain - vain! - attempt to prove her point.
This one is called Exhumation.
There really have - you may have heard - been forest fires raging across France lately. Contrary to popular false opinion these have absolutely not been caused by that canard ‘climate change’. Something like 90% of them have been caused by humans. Some of them, as it happens, deliberately.
Yesterday, simply peering outside we could see the entire sky, all around, enveloped in a haze. And it’s been so dry that it wasn’t a mist, that’s for sure. And we could smell the burning too. Despite these fires being a hundred miles away from where we are.
Climate change is a lie. But don’t get me started on that. I think the thing I hate the most about this climate change bullshit is the anthropocentrism of it. It’s selfish as fuck, and it shows no love of Gaia whatsoever. And no understanding of Danuih.
Clearly, these global warmists know fuck all about history. Like only yesterday I read that they’ve changed the ‘medieval warming period’ to the ‘medieval climate anomaly’ - what?! Anomaly?! Erm, no, it’s the 360 year fucking solar cycle! Of course they have to change it like that because the simple historical fact of these warming periods - centuries and millennia before the industrial revolution - utterly disprove their absurd CO2-warming hypothesis. These fuckers do so much damage to our beautiful Homeworld and I fucking hate them. I hope they all fucking drown in lakes of blood.
This is how they brainwash people. They even have otherwise intelligent people believing in this absurdity. And the worst thing of all, as I say, is that deep down it is preventing people from loving and understanding this beautiful planet.
So fuck them.
Enough burbling. Here is Evelyn’s poetry.
Pictures by Evelyn too.

Exhumation
These days there are fires Raging across the heart of my country I refuse to splice it all In lines for your modernist aesthetics I sensed it all this morning That crack in the window When the fumes in the white sky are not Mist isn’t true in this heatwave You will latch on to the official story It’s all something to do with peer-reviews And consensus but you don’t live here with me You don’t love here with this Gaian heart-strewn Favour I wish we could all just give in To memory when we were immanent I wish we could just memory it all away The truth is there was a Firestarter And that’s all the truth you ever need To know don’t look up, too much veracity Up there she doesn’t care About your stupid anthropocentry Or your fakery or your lies No, we, these simpletons of the earth, of the seas And the west winds We don’t, we don’t matter in this worse world. We are fossils. Layered and impressed And only waiting for the exhumation.

Oh, I could feel the sadness, anger and your frustration in this piece, Evelyn. Humans arrogance is indeed destroying the planet!
"We are fossils. Layered and impressed
And only waiting for the exhumation."
What a prediction! And a reminder that Gaia doesn't care about our theories and the stories we tell ourselves to sleep better at night. It makes me sad at the current situation.
Beautiful. Sad, of course, but your poetry speaks to the heart.
